Thanks to Cafe Hayek for drawing my attention to the last paragraph of George Will’s column from last week:

The Obama administration’s agenda of maximizing dependency involves political favoritism cloaked in the raiment of “economic planning” and “social justice” that somehow produce results superior to what markets produce when freedom allows merit to manifest itself, and incompetence to fail. The administration’s central activity — the political allocation of wealth and opportunity — is not merely susceptible to corruption, it is corruption.

Many of my liberal friends see Obama’s edicts as good.  Who didn’t want to see the head of GM get canned, right?  Higher CAFE standards are good.  Health care, much needed.   Debt holders shouldn’t have their contracts honored.

Litmus Test:   I’m starting to ask these friends if they’d be comfortable with a Republican president in the future having this kind of power?  If not, then they should be very concerned about the precedents being set.
