Who knew that Djokovic was in a boy band? I didn’t. The old lady rubbing him down with oil is pretty hot. I felt tingles in my naughty place. I will just go now.

easter

If you’re looking for an Easter treat, how about some Porterhouse Chocolate Truffle stout?  I gather it’s their spring special and it’s a beauty.  It’s smooth, bittersweet, and seems to have a hint of mint about it.

We tried it a couple of weeks ago when we were looking for the legendary Galway Hooker, without luck. The rather diffident bar man didn’t say whether they’d run out, or never took delivery, or give any explanation whatsoever.  There just wasn’t any, full stop. Perhaps it was at another bar and the effort of explaining this was just too much for him.  You only get a two second window to order a drink on a Saturday night at the Porterhouse, after all.

See here for an earlier article about the Porterhouse.

Zebra Sarasa

I really really really want to like this pen, but there are a few too many little things that keep me from doing so.  But let’s start with the good stuff, shall we?  First of all, it’s a Zebra, so you know it is going to at least be a decent pen.  It is well built, comfortable, and it feels durable even though I haven’t had it for a long time.  I even like the red black ink better than I thought.  Those little things though – they just keep coming back to haunt me.

I have never owned a regular Zebra Sarasa, only the similar Sarasa Clip model.  The main differences between the two seem to be the barrel diameter and grip area.  The regular Sarasa is a little bit skinnier and has a thinner grip, neither of which I am fond of.  Maybe it is because I use the Clip so regularly I am used to that style and feel, but I could never get used to the feel of this regular one.  Secondly, this is the most scratchy Zebra pen I have ever used – it is very noticeable.  I thought maybe I had a dud, but Nrepose from Unposted reviewed this pen a couple of weeks back and found the exact same thing.  The line is sharp and clean, but the writing experience isn’t nice enough to keep this pen in the rotation.  Too bad.

Photojojo Seatbeltcamerastrap

Pick up one of these nifty seat belt camera straps ($20 for one / $35 for two) made by Souldier in the Photojojo store. I love that it’s hand made and that it comes in a variety of colors (teal is my favorite). They are much more exciting than the standard black and logo emblazoned ones that comes with the camera, for sure!

The Obama administration has done something I didn’t think it was possible to do. It managed, in a ten-page report, to tattoo the word “extremist” on the foreheads of about half the country.
Plenty of folks are writing about the Department of Homeland Security Report made public by Stephen Gordon at The Liberty Papers. And […]

Designer Alisson Wilson Ströher’s IMO coffee maker is intended to be a compact, practical solution to household coffee making—but it looks like he picked up aesthetic cues from the HAL exoskeleton.

Besides looking cool, the swing arm actually serves a practical purpose. By adjusting its height you can easily fill cups of varying sizes. It also has the ability to brew three packets of coffee without changing the water in the reservoir. The IMO is only a concept at this point, but if it were to go into production, Ströher believes it would retail for about $130. [Coroflot via Trends Updates via The Design Blog]

Pandora, the smart internet radio service, has already been on standalone (non-computer) devices before, but Livio combines the old man-ness of a radio with the snarky blogger-ness of a thumbs up/thumbs down rating.

The radio itself has a Griffin PowerMate-like knob and a three-line lCD screen. Besides the one speaker, headphone jack, remote (which also has thumbs up/thumbs down), and Ethernet connection, there’s not a whole lot to be had.

The downside is that this is Ethernet-only, so you’re going to have to drag an Ethernet cable (or use powerline) into your bedroom. We’d rather pay $200 for a wireless version. [Livio Radio]

While we broke the news of the ZuneHD to the world as we did the original, we have no way to verify the authenticity of this new image originating at Windows Mobile Power User and now trotting itself around the Intersphere fueled by the adrenaline of fanboy fantasies. We’ve been skeptically going over it pixel-by-pixel (where’s the green indicator light on the front and what is that on the back? A camera, a screw-hole?) as this is the notorious period that always follows a product leak when dubious PhotoShops and fanart begins flooding our tips box. Fortunately, Zunited’s sources have stepped up with an assertion that the pic is in fact an authentic ZuneHD. So let’s turn an eye to the specs, the glorious, almost absurdly high-end specs that accompany the picture. Zunited’s sources won’t touch these and we’re keeping them at arm’s length for now under the it’s too-good-to-be-true heading. Click through to see what we mean.
